Michael McTasney - Principal

Welcome to Earl Stanley Gardner Middle School!  I am Michael McTasney and I am proud to be the principal of this incredible school.  Prior to coming to GMS, I served for nine years as the principal at Tony Tobin Elementary School here in Temecula. Previous to that, I was a teacher and assistant principal in Corona Norco Unified School District. I grew up in Michigan, and received my bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University, my masters from Azusa Pacific, and I am just earned my doctoral dissertation from the University of La Verne.  My wife, Heidi, is a second grade teacher in Corona, and we are blessed to have three incredible children. Our children attend school here in Temecula, and we couldn’t be happier with the love and support they receive from the talented teachers, administrators, and classified team here in our district. In my spare time, our family loves to go camping, and you will often find us at my daughters dance recital, or cheering on my boys during a soccer, football, or basketball game.  If there is ever free time, I love working in our garden at home, watching a great Michigan football game, or playing with my children.

Gardner Middle School has an outstanding team and we encourage you to become an active member at our school. Please be sure to regularly check your child’s grades using Infinite Campus, check our schools and teacher’s websites, and attend our school events. To help keep you connected to the events happening at GMS we will be using a weekly automated telephone system and a weekly newsletter we will share through email..

I look forward to serving this incredible community.

Cheryl Tukua - Assistant Principal

Welcome to Gardner Middle School.  I feel extremely blessed to be a part of this amazing school.  So that you may know a little about your child’s assistant principal, I have included a brief bio.  I was born in Michigan, but mostly grew up in southern California.  I received my BS in Business Administration and Management from the University of Redlands.  I worked in finance for a few years and quickly discovered that my true calling was in education.  I received my teaching credential in Mild/Moderate Special Education and my MA in Special Education from Azusa Pacific University.  During my time in education, I’ve taught middle school in Jurupa Unified and Temecula Unified and have worked two years at the high-school level as a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA), overseeing school-wide intervention.   My husband and I have been married since 2006, and have three children.  In my free time, I enjoy working out, running, going beach camping, and spending time with my family.  I look forward to working with you.
